Put your hands up for children this Lent
For Lent this year St Andrew's is asking people to put their hands up for children, to raise money for The Children's Society's (TCS) latest campaign.
Not literally of course - although you can do that if you want! - instead we are asking people to 'buy' hand stickers to cover a giant board with 650 circles on it, representing all 650 seats in the House of Commons.
Why the House of Commons? Because the latest campaign "Children at the Table" from leading children's charities, including the Children's Society, is calling for a cross-government strategy to prioritise children’s health and happiness, to invest more in early intervention and ensure children’s voices are heard at the heart of government.
Together with Barnardo’s, Action for Children, the NSPCC and the National Children’s Bureau, TCS want the next Prime Minister and Chancellor to be champions for children and young people.
How you can support Hands Up For Children
Buy some hand stickers at church (a bargain at £1 each!) and stick on the circle of your choice in St Andrew's! (Each circle is coloured according to its MP's party allegiance.) By Good Friday we want the board to be covered with a mass of brightly-coloured "hands up" stickers!
