What do we stand for in the UK?
The second of two podcasts from The Children's Society, featuring the voices of Phoenix, Ayo, ibrahim, TJ and Ope.
Now part of The Children's Society's Youth Led Commission on Separated Children (YLCSC), they are campaigning for all unaccompanied young refugees who arrive in the UK alone to get a legal guardian.
Drawing on their own lived experiences arriving in the UK with no or little English, they recount how confused, alone and worried they felt.
Ibrahim says: "We went to Scotland and we saw the kind of support they [unaccompanied young refugees] received and in a way we felt jealous, they had everything they needed from the moment they arrived, but we were left with nothing."
Support our Lent Appeal
This year, our Lent appeal is raising funds for the Children’s Society’s campaign to provide Guardians for all unaccompanied child refugees.
You too can support it by simply 'buying' paper 'Guardian Angels' to display on the Church’s noticeboard throughout Lent. The money raised will then go to The Children’s Society’s campaign for Guardians for unaccompanied child refugees.
Help people like Ibrahim, from as little as £1! If you want to do more, visit our webpage Help children arriving alone in the UK get a guardian for ideas.
