You helped to build something great - thank you
For Lent this year St Andrew's ran its 'Buy a brick' campaign to raise funds for a family project run by The Children's Society.
The money raised went to The Children’s Society Active Families Together (AFT) project, which helps families spend quality time together, whether that’s playing sports, eating and cooking together, or even yoga and mindfulness. AFT is fun, safe and inspiring and offers families respite from the issues and problems they may be facing - introducing shared interests that can be continued long after the programme’s finished.
Hannah Ratcliffe from The Children's Society said: "We have been able to use this generous donation to fund families taking part in healthy activities in local leisure facilities.
"This has meant that families who would usually be unable to afford a treat like this have benefited. It has given them some much needed time with their family to have fun whilst exercising.
"They have been able to go to centres such as Jump Street to take part in trampolining, Ultimate Ninja on their obstacle course and on badminton and squash courts."
Feedback
Parents and carers who took part sent some wonderful messages to The Children's Society, including:
"I am writing as I wanted to say what a positive experience "B" has had with Kurt, not only has he shown B. the enjoyment of physical activity he has also boosted B's confidence to the stage that B. wants to try physical activity on his own and in groups."
"My boys have never been so excited to do exercise since meeting your team and all the good u do for the children and they also made me feel like I could talk to your team about anything and so welcoming,"
"So thank you very much and a massive thank you to Kurt and his efforts for us."
